Think All McDonald’s Are the Same? This One in Cornwall Is the UK’s Best
New data reveals which branches are leaving customers most satisfied – and which ones aren’t
Cornwall’s own McDonald’s at Cornwall Services in St Austell has officially been crowned the highest-rated branch in the UK, according to a new study that analysed Google reviews across the country.
The research, carried out by QR Code Generator, looked at the percentage of five-star and one-star Google reviews for every McDonald’s in the UK, revealing stark differences in customer satisfaction depending on the location.
Cornwall Tops the List
The Cornwall Services McDonald’s recorded 52.42% five-star reviews, the highest in the country, and just 6.18% one-star reviews, giving it an overall rating of 4.1 on Google. The results put it firmly ahead of hundreds of other branches nationwide.
This means more than half of customers leaving reviews gave it the full five stars — a rare feat for any fast food outlet.
Who Else Made the Top Five?
The top five highest-rated McDonald’s locations in the UK are:
-
Cornwall Services, St Austell – 52.42% five-star reviews, rating: 4.1
-
Omagh, Northern Ireland – 52.26% five-star reviews, rating: 4.1
-
Coleraine, County Londonderry – 51.32% five-star reviews, rating: 4.1
-
Sprucefield, Lisburn – 51.11% five-star reviews, rating: 4.0
-
Wincanton, Somerset – 50.55% five-star reviews, rating: 4.1
The data also shows consistently low one-star ratings among the best performers. Cornwall Services stands out with the lowest percentage of poor reviews among the top five.
And the Worst?
At the other end of the scale, the Chingford branch came out as the lowest-rated McDonald’s in the UK, with a staggering 36.49% of reviews being one-star. Only 24.07% of customers gave it five stars, and its overall Google rating sits at 2.8.
Close behind were Sydenham, with 34.05% one-star reviews, and Bristol Fishponds, with 33.46% of its reviews at just one star.
What the Researchers Say
Commenting on the findings, Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator, said:
“According to a YouGov survey, McDonald’s is in the top three most popular dining brands in the UK for 2025, beating out its competitors such as Burger King and KFC. Only Greggs is favoured more than the double arches among millennials, highlighting many young Brits’ favour for affordable, on-the-go bites.
“However, just because each McDonald’s restaurant bears the famous name, it may not mean all are equal in the eyes of customers, as our results suggest. Customer satisfaction appears to vary widely across the nation, with Cornwall Services taking top spot.
“For holidaymakers on their way to or from the south-west coast, it may be one to keep in mind for a pitstop, and an enjoyable meal for their travels.”
