St Austell Brewery’s Exclusive Beer Brewed by Women Hits Pubs for International Women’s Day

A special-edition golden ale, crafted by women from across St Austell Brewery, is set to pour in selected pubs this weekend in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Brewing Up Something Special

A 20-strong team of women from payroll, sales, marketing, pub operations, and finance rolled up their sleeves to create Krushin’ It, a 5% golden ale brewed with Krush™ hops from the USA. The beer boasts tropical fruit flavours, with notes of peach, mango, and guava.

Led by Brewing Director Georgina Young, the group got hands-on with every stage of the brewing process, from adding hops and malt to digging out spent grain.

A First-Time Brewing Experience

For Sales Development Manager Olivia Sugg, who is based in Dorset, the experience was a new one.

She said: “Having the opportunity to not only brew a beer but to do it with Georgina was really special and a pretty cool topic to bring up at the pub with friends and family. It was amazing to get the insight into how the brewing team works, too.”

A Tradition of Female Leadership

Georgina, who took over brewing operations in 2020, highlighted the significance of the event in bringing colleagues together and honouring the contributions of women throughout the brewery’s history.

“With nearly 2,000 employees across the South West, it’s not always easy to connect with colleagues on a personal level, so this event was a fantastic chance for women from all areas of the business to come together and leave their mark on a beer.

“It was also a meaningful way to honour the women who have shaped the business and continue to do so.

“Much of our growth and success can be attributed to female leadership, not just today but throughout our history. Hester Parnall, who served as chairwoman from 1916 to 1939, is a rare example of female leadership in brewing during that era.”

Limited-Edition Ale Available This Weekend

Krushin’ It will be available on the bar at selected St Austell Brewery-managed pubs across the South West from Friday 7th – Sunday 10th March.

The beer also marks the launch of St Austell Brewery’s Cask Club programme, an annual series that encourages experimentation in the brewery’s Small Batch Brewery. The initiative gives brewers the opportunity to create unique beers that are showcased in the brewery’s managed estate throughout the year.
