Over 600 Children Learn to Make Cornish Pasties Thanks to Local Programme

Students at Richard Lander School in Cornwall had a hands-on experience learning how to make authentic Cornish pasties, thanks to a programme funded by Cornish Pasty Week 2024.

Teaching Cornwall’s Heritage

The Cornish Pasty Association visited the school this morning, where they taught the students about the history and heritage of the Cornish pasty, a key symbol of local culture. This event was part of a broader effort that has so far reached over 600 children across the region.

The Importance of Farmers

During the sessions, the association highlighted the importance of Cornwall’s farmers, linking the beloved pasty to the agricultural roots of the area. The aim was not just to teach cooking skills but to instil an understanding of the pasty’s connection to Cornwall’s farming community.

More to Come

The Cornish Pasty Association is encouraging the local community to stay engaged, with Cornish Pasty Week 2025 on the horizon. The event will once again offer ways for people to get involved, supporting local schools in teaching the next generation how to cook traditional Cornish fare.
