Cornwall’s Food Stars: Who Will Shine at the Great Cornish Food Awards?

The Great Cornish Food Awards is set to showcase the best and brightest in Cornwall’s food, drink, farming, and fishing sectors. Taking place on Thursday, 6th February 2025, the event will be hosted at the renowned Nancarrow Farm near Truro.

The awards, organised by Great Cornish Food, have drawn over 60 entrants from across the industries. According to Ruth Huxley, managing director of the Great Cornish Food Store and founder of Cornwall Food & Drink, the response has been exceptional.

“We have had a brilliant response to the awards with more than 60 entrants across the categories,” said Ruth. “Entrants vary in size from well-established companies with hundreds of employees and multi-million-pound turnovers to two-person bands, all of whom are united by a passion for growing and evolving the Cornish food and drink industry.”

Celebrating Innovation and Impact

Among the awards categories are Fishing for the Future, Farming for the Future, and Food for the Future, recognising the important roles these industries play in Cornwall and beyond.

The finalists for Fishing for the Future are:

  • Beryl M
  • Island Fish
  • Cornish Sardine Management Association

The finalists for Farming for the Future are:

  • Treway Farm
  • Riviera Produce
  • St Ewe Eggs
  • St Martin’s Vineyard

For Food for the Future, the finalists are:

  • Soul Farm
  • Origin Coffee
  • St Martin’s Vineyard

Recognising Excellence Across the Board

Other awards aim to spotlight specific achievements in the Cornish food scene.

The Raising the Bar Award finalists are:

  • Rodda’s
  • Loveday Distilling
  • Tregothnan
  • Community Roots

The Growing People Award highlights organisations that prioritise people, with finalists including:

  • Newquay Orchard
  • Proper Cornish
  • St Ewe Eggs

The Making a Mark Award, celebrating businesses that put Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly on the map, features:

  • Lyhner Dairies
  • Treway Farm
  • Proper Cornish
  • Prima Bakeries

The In It Together Award recognises collaboration, with finalists such as:

  • Loveday Distilling
  • Norton Barton Artisan Food Village
  • Treway Farm
  • The Cornish Larder

A Prestigious Winner of Winners

The final accolade, Winner of Winners, will honour a standout organisation that embodies everything great about Cornish and Scillonian food and drink.

The awards will be held at Nancarrow Farm, described by Ruth as “a long-established Cornish family farm with a fine reputation for producing great food.” After the event, organisers will support winners in making the most of their success.
