Cornwall’s Coastline Captivates in Viral Video Featuring Local Surfer and Biker
A Newquay surfer and Harley-Davidson enthusiast has become the star of an uplifting film that has captured the hearts of over 250,000 viewers.
Troy Stringer, 32, showcases his love for surfing and motorbiking along the picturesque Cornwall coast in a short film produced by the award-winning motoring magazine, Influx.
Meditative Moments on Waves and Wheels
Titled “Stripped to Fly: A Harley Haven,” the two-and-a-half-minute video explores Troy’s passion for the sea and the open road. With stunning footage of Cornwall’s scenery, the video has resonated widely, amassing 271,000 views. Troy describes the meditative feeling he experiences while surfing and riding his motorcycle, drawing a parallel between the two activities.
“It’s like a kind of meditative feeling, riding a motorcycle and surfing,” Troy says in the film. “Gliding on a wave to riding on a big open road with no cars around and just opening that thing up and having that raw power – you just feel like you’re in control and there’s nothing else.”
A Day in the Life of Troy Stringer
The video features Troy’s 2002 Sportster prominently, showcasing his adventures both on the waves and the open road. His affinity for tattoos and martial arts also takes centre stage, with scenes shot at Newquay’s North Shore, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and surfing lifestyle brand.
Troy’s narration emphasises the therapeutic nature of his hobbies, stating, “You can just shut your mind off and just relax for once. It could be just for that day. It could be that one time in the week when you can only just get your bike out, and it just, yeah, it kind of makes you feel like, if I can surf and ride my bike in one day, that’s – you can’t beat that. And a nice cold beer after that makes you feel good.”
The Cowboy of Cornwall’s Coast
Troy likens riding his Harley-Davidson to being a modern-day cowboy, exploring the coastline and countryside. “It definitely does make you feel like a cowboy sometimes riding the bike,” he comments. “Like you’re on your iron steed riding around the coastline of Cornwall and all the country roads to little bars and pubs. You just feel like you’re trotting around.”
The film has not only highlighted Troy’s personal journey but also showcased the breathtaking beauty of Cornwall, inspiring viewers to find their own meditative moments in the activities they love.
