Stranded at Rosemullion Head: Coastguard Rescue Team Executes Dramatic Cliff Rescue
A person stuck on rocks at Rosemullion Head, Mawnan was successfully rescued in a technical rope rescue operation on 24th February 2025.
Emergency Response Mobilised
At 11:56am, the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team was called to the scene. They were joined by the Porthleven Coastguard Team and Falmouth Lifeboat, with additional support from two Senior Coastal Operations Officers.
Upon arrival, the inshore lifeboat (ILB) was unable to reach the stranded individual due to the location’s difficult terrain. This led to a specialist Coastguard Rope Rescue Technician being deployed to carry out a cliff rescue.
Technical Rope Rescue in Action
With the team rigging the necessary equipment, the rope rescue technician descended to the casualty, securing them in a Coastguard casualty harness. Once properly secured, both the technician and casualty were recovered safely to the cliff top.
Fortunately, the person was uninjured following the ordeal.
Coastguard Safety Reminder
The Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team urges anyone who spots someone in trouble at the coast to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
