Storm Darragh Forces Cancellation of Falmouth’s Festive Weekend
Amber Alert Leads to Difficult Decision
Falmouth’s Festive Weekend, planned for Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December, has been cancelled due to an amber weather alert issued as Storm Darragh approaches Cornwall. The Falmouth Town Team, in collaboration with their partners, made the decision after assessing safety concerns linked to the adverse weather forecast.
Public events of this scale require careful coordination between multiple organisations. With the safety of attendees and volunteers at the forefront, the organisers explored alternative options before concluding that cancellation was the only viable course of action.
Community Spirit Shines Despite Setback
The Falmouth Town Team expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed their time and energy to planning the Festive Weekend and Falmouth’s broader Christmas programme. These efforts highlight the strong sense of community and passion for the town, even under challenging circumstances.
“Such efforts demonstrate the strength of community spirit and passion that many people have for our special town,” said the Town Team in their statement. They also urged residents and visitors to prioritise safety over the weekend as the storm passes through.
