Pantomime with a Cornish Twist: Flushing Group Celebrates 40 Years
Rehearsals Begin for The Parrots of Penzance
Excitement is building in Flushing as the village’s pantomime group begins rehearsals for its 2025 production, The Parrots of Penzance. The play promises a Cornish twist on the classic panto format, marking the 40th anniversary of the Flushing Pantomime Group.
Running from Tuesday, 11th February, to Saturday, 15th February 2025, the show will be performed at Flushing Church Hall. Tickets are priced at £10, with an exception for Tuesday’s performance, which costs £14.50 and includes a pasty. Tickets are now on sale at Flushing Village Stores.
A Unique Cornish Adventure
The Parrots of Penzance tells the whimsical tale of Edmundo and Consuela, two giant Peruvian parrots shipwrecked off Land’s End. Their journey to find their way home is filled with challenges as they encounter dubious characters determined to derail their plans.
Director Sue Lightfoot shared the group’s excitement about the upcoming show:
“We’ve always gone down the traditional panto script route but this is the 40th year of Flushing panto, and we really wanted to try something different. You can expect the usual panto frolics with some Cornish characters and pasties thrown in!”
Supporting Local Education
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Flushing Primary School, offering a fun way for the community to come together while supporting local education.
