Morgan Bolding Tells Falmouth Students the Olympic Mindset That Took Him to Gold

Falmouth School welcomed a very special guest recently – Olympic gold medallist Morgan Bolding, who inspired students across the school with his powerful story of resilience, focus, and determination.

A Champion’s Message

Morgan, a key part of Team GB’s victorious men’s eight rowing team at the Paris 2024 Olympics, spoke to students from Years 7 to 11 about his journey to the top. He shared the challenges he faced along the way and how he overcame adversity through his philosophy of “perspective, purpose, and process.”

His story was delivered in a whole-school assembly, followed by smaller group sessions where he opened up even further about the mindset and routines that helped him achieve Olympic success.

More Than Just a Talk

Morgan didn’t just deliver a speech and leave – he fully immersed himself in the school day. He met with some of Falmouth School’s own athletes to talk about training and nutrition and later held a workshop where a smaller group of students got to ask him questions directly in a more personal setting.

Students were thrilled to meet the Olympian, with many queueing during break time to have their photo taken with him or get his autograph. Morgan also brought his Paris 2024 Olympic gold medal, allowing pupils the chance to see and hold it – an experience many will never forget.

“It was the best day ever!” said one Year 8 student, summing up the excitement across the school.

A Role Model in Action

Morgan’s visit made a real impact. Students and staff alike were moved by his openness and encouragement. His words left a lasting message about perseverance and staying focused, no matter the obstacles.

Morgan’s story resonated deeply with our students; he shared with us that with hard work and a positive mindset, anything is possible. He is a fantastic role model, and having guest speakers like this in our school is so important as it inspires the next generation.”
