Medieval Spectacle Returns: Pendennis Castle to Host Legendary Joust and Knights’ Tournament
Female Knight to Compete for the First Time – Experience Medieval Girl Power!
Pendennis Castle Gears Up for a Summer of Historic Jousting
This summer, the historic Pendennis Castle in Falmouth will transform into a grand arena for two of history’s most thrilling sporting events: the Legendary Joust and the Knights’ Tournament. Set against the stunning backdrop of the castle’s grounds, these events promise an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
Legendary Joust: A Battle of Myth and Legend
The Legendary Joust will be held twice this summer, first from 30 July to 1 August and again from 13 to 15 August. Four fearless riders will compete, each embodying a character from myth or legend – The Wyvern, The Wildman, Sir Lancelot, and Jason of the Argonauts. These skilled jousters will battle for the coveted title of champion, delivering a breathtaking display of courage and skill.
Between the jousting matches, visitors can immerse themselves in medieval life. Historical reenactors will be on hand to provide insights into the period, and young visitors can even try their hand at archery in the ‘have-a-go’ archery sessions.

Knights’ Tournament: A Showcase of Martial Prowess
The Knights’ Tournament will also take place on two occasions: from 6 to 8 August and from 20 to 22 August. This event will see four brave knights competing in tests of strength and skill, including sword-fighting and archery, all under the watchful eyes of their squires.

The castle grounds will also host a living history encampment, complete with medieval music and a fire-breathing jester, adding to the authentic medieval atmosphere.
