Falmouth School Celebrates Strong Ofsted Inspection Result

Published On: 16 May 2025Last Updated: 16 May 2025By

Falmouth School has been rated ‘Good’ across the board in its latest Ofsted inspection, marking a major milestone for the school after previously receiving a ‘Requires Improvement’ judgement.

The inspection, which took place on 24th April 2025, looked at all key areas: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision.

Big steps forward

Inspectors praised the school’s ambitious and well-structured curriculum, high expectations and purposeful learning environment. Pupils were described as respectful, proud of their work, and contributing positively to school life.

The sixth form, which had been an area of focus, has shown marked improvement. Students are now achieving well and moving on to aspirational next steps. Plans are also in place to broaden the curriculum offer for post-16 learners even further.

Community praised

Joanne Guest, Headteacher of Falmouth School, said:

“I am incredibly proud of what our school community has achieved. This report is a testament to the hard work of our staff, the resilience and determination of our students and the support from our families. Our school has undergone considerable improvement and while we know there’s still more to do, this outcome reflects the positive transformation taking place at Falmouth School.”

Support from the Roseland Trust

Since joining the Roseland Multi-Academy Trust, the school has worked closely with leaders and staff across the Trust to drive improvements.

Chris Challis, CEO of The Roseland Trust, said:

“This is a proud moment for everyone involved in Falmouth School and The Roseland Trust. The report recognises the clear progress made, and the impact of our shared mission, vision and values. We are particularly pleased to see the positive recognition of the curriculum development, the improved provision for pupils with SEND, and the school’s growing role at the heart of the local community.”

A calm and aspirational place to learn

The Ofsted report describes a respectful and aspirational school culture where pupils are supported to succeed both academically and personally. It also notes the school’s progress in improving attendance, reducing suspensions, and prioritising reading across all year groups.

Falmouth School says it will now focus on further improving consistency in teaching and expanding opportunities in the sixth form.
