Falmouth Marine Conservation Seeks Volunteer Rockpool Coordinator to Educate and Engage Community
Falmouth Marine Conservation (FMC) has announced an exciting opportunity for ocean enthusiasts with a passion for marine education and conservation.
The volunteer position, titled Rockpool Coordinator, aims to bring on board an individual who is eager to plan, organise, and lead rock pooling sessions in Cornwall, engaging the public in learning about the diverse marine life and ecosystems found in rockpools.
The Rockpool Coordinator will play a pivotal role in Falmouth Marine Conservation’s efforts to raise awareness about marine conservation. Responsibilities include arranging planning, permissions, publicity, and booking for rockpool events, as well as setting up necessary equipment and materials. Additionally, the coordinator will lead health and safety briefings for groups, ensuring a safe and educational experience for participants of all ages and backgrounds.
Ideal candidates for this role should have a strong foundation in rockpool species identification and be comfortable with public speaking. A general awareness of ocean safety, including understanding tide times and beach flags, is also essential. Prospective volunteers must be based in Cornwall to attend regular FMC meetings and coordinate local events effectively.
