In a swift and coordinated response, Falmouth RNLI volunteers successfully assisted an unwell individual on a yacht within Falmouth Harbour on Thursday, 25th July 2024.
Emergency Call and Rapid Response
At precisely 6.22pm, the pagers of Falmouth’s dedicated RNLI volunteers buzzed urgently, signalling a call for assistance. Upon ensuring the casualty was being looked after, the lifeboat swiftly proceeded to the Prince of Wales Pier. Here, they liaised with the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and ambulance paramedics. Two paramedics were promptly transferred to the lifeboat and taken back to the yacht for further assessment and stabilisation of the casualty.
Safe Transfer and Aftercare
Once the casualty’s condition was stabilised, the lifeboat crew carefully transferred them back to the Prince of Wales Pier. Here, an ambulance awaited to provide further treatment and transport to the hospital. The coordinated effort ensured the casualty received the necessary care without delay.
Ready for the Next Call
Following the successful rescue operation, Falmouth Coastguard released the lifeboat crew, allowing them to return to their station. The ‘Robina Nixon Chard’ was then thoroughly washed down and prepared for any future emergencies.
