Morning Incident on Gyllyngvase Beach

On the morning of 5th April 2024, at precisely 10:33 AM, the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team was promptly dispatched to Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth, following a report of an individual suffering from a possible back injury after a collision with a dog.

Upon arrival at the scene, the team’s primary concern was the incoming tide, prompting them to quickly relocate the injured party to a safer location. Utilising their stretcher, the casualty was moved to the security of the nearby beach shop.

The individual received initial assessments on the spot, was kept warm, and was subsequently handed over to the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust’s Paramedics for further medical attention. The Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team extended their gratitude to the Gylly Beach Café for their warm hospitality during the incident.

Afternoon Call to Prince of Wales Pier

The day’s challenges did not end there for the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team. At 2:27 PM, they were called into action once again, this time to a police incident at the Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth. In a coordinated effort, the Falmouth Lifeboat was also tasked to assist with the situation.

The incident was successfully resolved by the Devon & Cornwall Police, allowing the rescue team and all other emergency services involved to return to their station by 3:30 PM. The swift and effective handling of both incidents showcases the dedication and readiness of the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team and their partners in ensuring public safety.

The Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team remains vigilant and ready to respond to any emergencies along the coast, demonstrating their commitment to the welfare of both residents and visitors in the Falmouth area.
