Falmouth Celebrates Local Hero Arno with Prestigious Award

In a heartwarming ceremony held this past Saturday, Falmouth’s own Arno Canale was honoured with the esteemed Spirit of the Sea award for his remarkable contributions to the local youth through the sport of football.

Dedicated Service to Youth Football

The Falmouth Town Council, led by the Mayor, Cllr Kirstie Edwards, recognised Arno for his exceptional commitment to the young residents of Falmouth by awarding him during a vibrant ceremony at Falmouth Football Club. Arno, who founded the Falmouth Community Youth Football Club in 2016, has been pivotal in giving over 300 young people, ranging from ages 5 to 16, the chance to engage in football at no cost.

A Morning of Tributes

The award presentation turned into a celebration of community spirit, attended by around 150 players, supporters, and volunteers, including Arno’s son Robbie and grandson Kit. The Mayor expressed gratitude to Arno for his visionary dedication and for fostering a nurturing environment that benefits both the youth and the wider community.

The Spirit of the Sea award, now in its 10th year, continues to spotlight individuals in Falmouth who dedicate themselves to the betterment of the community through various avenues. Arno’s recognition this year places him among a distinguished group of recipients who have shown unwavering commitment to enriching lives around them.
