Mark your calendars for an exciting day packed with creativity and hands-on fun at the Falmouth Art Gallery on 9th November 2024. This event, part of the national Fun Palaces campaign, promises a diverse range of free activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

A Day Filled with Creativity and Exploration

Visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in a variety of workshops and interactive experiences. From trying out life drawing with the Falmouth Life Drawing Society, sketching a costumed model, to participating in junk modelling and badge making with Kernow Library of Things, there is an opportunity for everyone to get involved.

For those keen on exploring the digital realm, Cornwall Film Festival will be showcasing stop-motion animation and virtual reality experiences. Attendees can also enjoy media screenings or have a unique chance to go live on air with 10 minutes of broadcasting at Source FM.

Engaging in Conservation and Community

The day isn’t just about art and media; it’s also a chance to contribute to environmental conservation. The Ocean Conservation Trust will be present, guiding attendees in making nutrient balls to support seagrass restoration efforts. This hands-on activity not only educates but actively contributes to local ecological efforts.

Local artists, makers, and community innovators will be on hand, sharing their expertise and enthusiasm. This focus on community engagement underscores the heart of the Fun Palaces ethos: celebrating local skills and passions while bringing people together.

What is Fun Palaces?

Falmouth Art Gallery Fun Palace is part of Fun Palaces 2024, a nationwide movement celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since its inception in 2014, the campaign has seen over 45,000 people create 2,500 Fun Palaces, engaging around 800,000 participants. This annual celebration champions culture rooted in community and shared experiences.

Fun Palaces events blend arts, science, craft, technology, digital media, heritage, and sports, prioritising the human connection at their core. As the organisers highlight, “Expect a full day of creative workshops, exciting new tech, and plenty of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. This year, we’re focusing on showcasing the incredible assets within our local community—people and organisations that everyone should know about. It’s all about bringing the community together to celebrate what we have and what we can create together.”

Don’t miss out on this vibrant showcase of local talent and collective creativity. Head to the Falmouth Art Gallery Fun Palace on 9th November and experience a day of exploration, learning, and fun for the entire family.
