Emergency Lifeboat Rescue at Arthurs Beach: Casualty Evacuated Safely

On Sunday, 2 June 2024, the Falmouth Lifeboat’s Atlantic 85 vessel, ‘Robina Nixon Chard’, was deployed to assist the Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team with an injured individual at Arthurs Beach, located between Swanpool and Maenporth.

The volunteer crew was paged at 5:16 PM following a distress call from the casualty, initiating a rapid response to the incident.

Quick Deployment and Arrival

Within ten minutes of being paged, the lifeboat launched into slight seas with an offshore wind of 2/3. The lifeboat arrived at the scene by 5:37 PM, where the Coastguard team was already present and attending to the situation. The helm of the lifeboat, coordinated the deployment of two crew members ashore to work alongside the Coastguard team and develop a plan for the safe evacuation of the injured individual.

Casualty Evacuation

The coordinated effort between the lifeboat crew and the Coastguard resulted in the successful transfer of the casualty and members of the Coastguard team to the lifeboat. The lifeboat then transported them to Swanpool Beach for further medical assistance.

Mission Accomplished

Once the casualty was safely ashore, the lifeboat crew was stood down. The ‘Robina Nixon Chard’ returned to the lifeboat station, concluding the operation by 6:30 PM and preparing for any future service needs.
