‘For the Many’ Podcast to Headline Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature

The Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature is set to conclude with a special live edition of the ‘For the Many’ podcast on Saturday, 18 May. The event will feature political broadcaster Iain Dale and former Labour Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, with Conservative MP and Veterans Minister Jonny Mercer as their special guest. The live show, known for blending political insight with humour, is expected to engage audiences with its analysis and commentary on current political events.

Since its inception in 2018, ‘For the Many’ has grown in popularity, amassing over 430 episodes. Its live appearances have included a notable five-day run at the Edinburgh Fringe and participation in three recent party conferences. This finale at the Fowey Festival is anticipated to offer a mix of entertaining and informative discourse, with the hosts taking questions from the audience.

Brenda Daly, the Festival Director, expressed excitement about concluding this year’s festivities with the acclaimed podcast, highlighting the event as a blend of humour and insightful political discussion. The show is scheduled from 8 pm to 10 pm, with tickets available for £20. Early bird booking options are currently open, offering discounts for Friends of Fowey Festival.

The Fowey Festival, now in its 26th year, is a renowned annual event that showcases a diverse range of art, literature, and music. This year’s festival starts on 10 May, with the full line-up to be announced in mid-March. Lynn Goold, Festival Trustee and Chair, emphasised the festival’s commitment to nurturing future talent through initiatives like the short story competition. This year’s competition theme is ‘Beaches,’ inviting entries of up to 1500 words by 28 March, with cash prizes for the top submissions.

The festival and its concluding podcast event promise to offer both locals and visitors a rich cultural experience, blending the worlds of arts, literature, and political commentary in the picturesque setting of Fowey.
