Exclusively Autism: Autistic Adults and Families Invited to Exclusive Wellness Breaks in Cornwall
WilderMe, a community interest company, is excited to offer a unique opportunity for autistic adults and families with autistic children to enjoy a series of Wellness and Connect breaks.
Set in the picturesque Rame Peninsula, these three-day retreats are designed to provide a nurturing and relaxing environment where individuals can meet others from the Cornwall region, share experiences, and engage in rejuvenating activities.
Retreat Details
The Connect & Wellness breaks will take place on select dates in May and June, with separate sessions dedicated to families and adults from Liskeard, Torpoint, and St Austell areas. The breaks are structured to promote relaxation and community building, set against the backdrop of Maker Heights, Cawsand, known for its natural beauty and historical significance.
- For Families:
- Liskeard & Area: Wed 1st – Fri 3rd May
- Torpoint & Area: Mon 6th – Wed 8th May
- St Austell Area: Wed 22nd – Fri 24th May
- For Adults:
- Torpoint Area: Wed 8th – Fri 10th May
- Liskeard Area: Mon 20th – Wed 22nd May
- St Austell Area: Mon 17th – Wed 19th June
Parents concerned about school attendance during these breaks are encouraged to reach out to WilderMe for support and information.
What to Expect
Participants will stay in luxury geodomes with sea views, equipped with their own BBQ and firepit. Facilities include a communal kitchen, dining tent, hot showers, and compost toilets, with standard toilets located a short walk away. The site, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of National Historical Importance, offers a peaceful setting ideal for relaxation and connection.
Activities to Enjoy
- Nature Art Class by Awenek Studio CIC: Create art with natural materials found onsite.
- Wild Foraging Trail by Family Foraging Kitchen CIC: Learn about and collect edible wild plants.
- Campfire Sing-a-long with Girl Friday: Enjoy communal singing around a campfire in the evenings.
Key Information
- Pricing: Pay as you feel, with £20 recommended (maximum). A £20 refundable deposit is required for accidental damage.
- Accommodations: Each geodome can sleep three (a double and a single bed). Additional single beds available upon request. Guests may bring their own bedding or hire from WilderMe for £15 per stay.
- Additional Notes:
- Well-behaved, fully toilet trained dogs that support guest wellbeing are welcome.
- Documentation confirming diagnosis is necessary to book your stay.
- To maintain tranquility, no music is allowed after 8pm.
