Christmas Lights Sparkle in Newlyn: Harbour Lights Switch-On
Weather Forces a Venue Change
Christmas spirit triumphed over stormy skies last night as Newlyn’s much-anticipated Harbour Lights switch-on found a new home inside the fish market. Originally planned as an outdoor event, the organisers made a last-minute decision to move indoors due to the challenging weather – a true “light bulb moment” that ensured the show could go on.
Festivities Light Up the Fish Market
The indoor celebrations were a resounding success, with carol singing, dazzling Christmas lights, and a breathtaking fireworks display by Sonic, a multi-award-winning team. Adding to the festive magic, Father Christmas arrived alongside Stormy Sam, the RNLI mascot, with both looked after by the dedicated Penlee Lifeboat volunteers.

The Newlyn Harbour Lights team received much-deserved praise for their hard work in organising the event and bringing festive cheer to the community. Their efforts continue to make Newlyn’s Christmas celebrations unforgettable, year after year.
Newlyn’s Christmas season is officially underway, proving once again that a little creative thinking can overcome even the stormiest of challenges.
