Celebrating International Women’s Day: Friendship Speed Dating Event in Support of Georgia’s Voice
On March 8th, at 18:30, an innovative event is set to take place, celebrating International Women’s Day in a unique way. Organised by Girls in Cornwall, the Friendship Speed Dating event aims to foster platonic connections among women in the local area. This gathering is not your average speed dating meetup; instead of seeking romantic relationships, attendees will have the chance to forge new friendships and strengthen their community ties.
The event will be held in support of Georgia’s Voice, a charity dedicated to reducing the rate of suicide among young women. This initiative honours the memory of Georgia Lee Gallaway, who tragically took her own life on July 6th, 2020. By contributing £2 from each ticket sale to the charity, the event aims to provide a supportive network and safe spaces for young women to express themselves, share their experiences, and find solace in knowing they are not alone.
Participants are invited to arrive at 6.30 pm at the Atlantic Hotel in Nequay, for a session of socialising at the hotel bar, where refreshments will be available for purchase. This will also serve as an opportunity to learn more about Georgia’s Voice and how to get involved with the cause. The friendship speed dating activity is scheduled to begin at 7 pm, featuring mini conversations with fellow attendees. To facilitate engaging discussions, organisers will provide thought-provoking conversation starters, ensuring a fulfilling and meaningful experience for everyone involved.
The Girls in Cornwall initiative is thrilled to announce that this special event will be featured in a good news segment on television. This recognition highlights the community’s efforts to create impactful and supportive events for women. Attendees should note that cameras will be present during the event. Those who prefer not to be filmed are encouraged to reach out via email at girlsincornwall@gmail.com for accommodations.
The Friendship Speed Dating event promises to be an empowering and enjoyable experience, celebrating the spirit of International Women’s Day while supporting a vital cause. It represents a unique opportunity for women in the Cornwall area to connect, share, and support each other in a warm and welcoming environment.
For those interested in participating, tickets can be purchased through the Girls in Cornwall website, where further details and registration information are available. Join this remarkable event to make new friends, support an important cause, and celebrate the strength and solidarity of women in your community.
