FREE Exhibition Talk: Clive Carter
On Wednesday 18th September at 6pm, Falmouth Art Gallery will be hosting a fascinating talk by Peter Mason on the life and art of Clive Carter (1941–2006), a Cornish artist whose work vividly captures the region’s industrial heritage.
Born into a family of miners and engineers, Carter studied at Redruth, Penzance, and Falmouth Art Schools. His paintings, inspired by Cornwall’s shipyards, miners, and machinery, showcase the rugged industrial side of the county, in contrast to the idyllic scenes painted by many of his peers.
The talk is being hosted by Falmouth Art Gallery as part of the Ammeth – Farming in Cornwall exhibition, this talk will explore Carter’s bold, dynamic style and his contribution to Cornish art.
