Help tackle ocean pollution and gather vital data at the upcoming beach clean event.

Korev Lager and the Marine Conservation Society are inviting the local community to take part in a beach clean at Great Western Beach, Newquay, as part of the Great British Beach Clean 2024. The event, set to take place on Saturday, 28th September, will run from 10:30am to 12noon, with volunteers meeting at the Great Western Hotel at 10am.

How to Get Involved

Anyone keen to lend a hand in clearing harmful litter from Cornwall’s beaches can sign up through the Marine Conservation Society’s website here. The event organisers will provide all necessary equipment, including litter pickers, gloves, and reusable bags, so all you need to bring is appropriate footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.

What to Expect

During the event, participants will not only help remove litter from the beach but also contribute to important data collection, which will aid the Marine Conservation Society’s ongoing efforts to protect the seas. Volunteers are advised to pack a rucksack with essentials such as sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and some snacks and water in a reusable bottle.

The event is family-friendly, but anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Parents or guardians will need to sign a consent form on the day.
