Christmas Trees to the Rescue: Cornwall’s Beaches To Be Saved

Published On: 6 January 2024Last Updated: 6 January 2024By

In a unique and eco-friendly initiative, volunteers in Cornwall are rallying to save the county’s beautiful sand dunes. Community group Beach Guardian has launched an appeal for old Christmas trees, which will be used to create a natural windbreak within the sand dunes at Constantine Bay.

A Growing Problem

Climate change has taken its toll on these delicate ecosystems, causing sand dunes to degrade and erode. Beach Guardian aims to combat this issue by planting these discarded Christmas trees, bolstering the dunes and preserving the stunning coastline.

Join the Effort

If you have a Christmas tree that’s ready for a new job, you can contribute to this fantastic cause. Head to the Trevisker community garden centre before January 14th to donate your tree.

Together, we can make a difference and protect Cornwall’s precious dunes!
