Boxing Day Opening Marks a New Chapter
For the first time since 2019, the Eden Project will open its doors on Boxing Day, offering a series of outdoor activities and experiences during the Twixmas period – those days between Christmas and early January. This initiative aims to encourage visitors to connect with nature and embrace a healthy start to the New Year.
Parkruns to Get Cornwall Moving
Among the highlights is the popular Eden Project parkrun, which will host three events during Twixmas on December 28, January 1, and January 4. The New Year’s Day run is a special addition to the calendar, inviting participants to welcome 2025 in active style.
Parkrun is free and open to everyone, regardless of ability, offering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Participants enjoy free entry to the Eden Project on the day of the event, with the five-kilometre route winding through the stunning gardens, including paths not normally open to the public. Nearly 70,000 finishes have been recorded since the parkrun began in 2017, and there are opportunities to volunteer for those who prefer to support the event in other ways.

Skate into Winter Fun
The Eden Project’s ice rink remains a winter favourite, open until February. Visitors can enjoy general skating sessions or join family-friendly sessions with penguin- and snowman-shaped aids for younger or less confident skaters.
Explore the Great Outdoors
The Eden Project’s vast dog-friendly gardens span over 20 acres, with plenty to explore. For those seeking adventure further afield, the wild outer estate connects to the Clay Trails, offering picturesque routes for walking, cycling, and horse riding through the nearby China Clay Country. These trails provide scenic paths to the Eden Project from St Austell, St Blazey, Par, and Bugle.
Festive Lights and Discounts
The festive lights and soundscape experience adds evening enchantment to the Twixmas period, running from 5pm to 8pm on December 27–30 and January 2–5. Locals’ Pass holders and Eden Project Members can bring guests for free during this time. Discounts of 10% and 15% on food, drink, and retail items are also available for pass holders and members respectively.
A Super Start to the New Year
Simon Townsend, the Eden Project’s general manager, said: “The period between Christmas and New Year is a great time for people to start thinking about getting more active and maybe putting some of those New Year’s resolutions into action. Our range of fun activities provide options for people of all abilities in a friendly and picturesque setting. This is a great time of year to make some positive new habits.”
