Eden Project – Kids Go Free For A Week Of Spectacular Science
The Eden Project, a world-famous environmental attraction, is set to ignite young minds this February half term with a week-long celebration of science, offering free entry for children aged 5 to 16. From February 10 to 18, visitors to the iconic biomes and gardens will experience a thrilling fusion of explosive science experiments, ingenious inventions, and a deep dive into sustainable living.
Ministry of Science Takes Center Stage
Joining forces with the UK’s beloved science show, Ministry of Science, and the wildly popular YouTube channel, Kids Invent Stuff, the Eden Project promises a jam-packed week of captivating activities and discovery.
Ministry of Science Live Show
In the breathtaking Mediterranean Biome, the Ministry of Science team will host their renowned live show, immersing the audience in the wonders of science and its profound impact on our world.
Hands-On Workshops
Additionally, young scientists can participate in workshops where they can unleash their creativity by designing their own science experiments.
Kids Invent Stuff Brings the Wow Factor
Kids Invent Stuff, a YouTube sensation, will bring their zaniest creations to Eden, including a slime-launching robot, a seed-shooting carrot car, and Maria Croc-bot, the lawn-mowing crocodile.
Young Inventors Wanted
Excitingly, The Eden Project’s young visitors have a chance to witness one of their own inventions come to life, as Kids Invent Stuff is actively seeking their 100th invention. Ideas can be submitted at the Idea Station throughout the half-term period.
Discovery Zone: Sustainable Living in Focus
The science extravaganza extends to the Dome tent’s Discovery Zone, where families can engage in drop-in experiments and demonstrations that explore sustainable ways of making, eating, and travelling.
Insect Cuisine and Creative Materials
Adventurous attendees can learn about the potential benefits of eating insects and even taste a salt and vinegar cricket, challenge the laws of physics, and experiment with innovative materials.
Excitement Builds at Eden
Tamsyn Lewis, Eden’s Living Theatre Production Manager, expressed her excitement, saying, “We can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve got in store this February half term at Eden. It really is going to be spectacular and a great chance for young minds to dive into the wacky world of science, creativity, and endless fun! We hope that by extending our usual free entry for under-fives to all children aged 16 or under will allow more families to come and experience a brilliant week of science and explore the gardens as the very first signs of spring begin to peek through.”
Ice Rink and Special Workshops
In addition to the week of scientific wonders, visitors can also enjoy the final glide of the season on the ice rink, with family-friendly and toddler sessions available to book online.
Relaxed Ministry of Science
Relaxed Ministry of Science workshop sessions will be available on Tuesday 13 and Saturday 17 at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm for those who’d benefit from an environment with fewer people and those with autism, sensory or communication needs. There is a charge of £1 per ticket for workshops to be pre-booked online.
Don’t Miss Out: Kids Go Free
The “kids go free” offer applies to one child aged 5 to 16 per adult, with pre-booking advised. Children under five enjoy free entry as standard.
