Emergency services were called to Ladock Valley near Truro on Monday, 20 May, following reports of a serious road traffic collision on the B3275.

The collision involved a car and a motorcycle, resulting in the death of Nigel Cullen, a 57-year-old motorcyclist from St Mawes.

Heartfelt Tribute from Wife Lucy

Nigel’s wife, Lucy, has paid a touching tribute to her husband. In a heartfelt statement, she shared the family’s grief and remembered Nigel’s kind and generous nature.

“On Monday, 20 May, my wonderful husband Nigel, much-loved father to our two small children, went out for a motorcycle ride on a beautiful spring morning and never came home. He was tragically killed in a road traffic accident in the Ladock Valley, near Truro,” Lucy said.

Lucy described Nigel as “the most thoughtful, kind and generous man” who adored his family. “It is unbearable to think about life without ‘daddy’. A loving husband, father, son, and brother, he was endlessly thoughtful in all his actions, holding my hand through everything in life. Now when I need him the most, he is not here. It is utterly heartbreaking, but I am so thankful to feel that through our children he will always be with us.”

A Life of Dedication and Passion

Nigel Cullen had a diverse and dedicated career, working as a project manager, flying instructor, First Officer with the Air Ambulance, and most recently, a small business owner. After moving to Cornwall, Nigel pursued his passion for coffee and in 2019, established Bear Cornwall. The speciality coffee business operated from a vintage Citroen van near St Mawes Castle and quickly became a beloved local fixture.

Lucy highlighted the impact Nigel had on the community: “His loss will be felt throughout our whole community. Everyone knew and loved him and his team; the big-hearted man and the best boss, who made the best coffee on the Roseland. We will miss him for the rest of our lives.”

Police Appeal for Information

Police are continuing their investigation into the collision and are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with dash-cam footage to come forward. Those with information are urged to contact police on 101 or via their website, quoting log number 332 of 20 May.

The tragic loss of Nigel Cullen has left a deep void in the lives of his family and the wider community, who will remember him for his kindness, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him.
