Tribute to Andrew McKnight: Family Remembers Beloved Diver

The family of Andrew McKnight, a diver who went missing off the Cornish coast in September, has paid a heartfelt tribute following the discovery of his body.

Andrew McKnight, 76, from St Austell, was reported missing on Sunday, 22nd September, after diving near St Anthony Head, close to Falmouth. Despite an extensive search involving the Coastguard, RNLI, and Devon & Cornwall Police, Andrew was not found at the time.

On Sunday, 8th December, his body was discovered on Portholland Beach.

“A Much-Loved Husband, Father, and Grandfather”

In a statement, Andrew’s family expressed their grief and paid tribute to his life and legacy.

“Andy was a highly qualified diver and dive instructor, and his death has come as a great shock to all who knew him.

“He was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed by all his family.”

Gratitude for Community Support

The family extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the search for Andrew over the past 11 weeks.

“We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the south west diving community, Devon & Cornwall Police, the RNLI, the Coastguard, and all others who gave their time to search for him.”

A Private Time for Reflection

The family has asked for privacy as they come to terms with their loss, describing the situation as a “great shock” to all who knew Andrew.

This tribute reflects the deep affection and respect Andrew inspired as a diver, instructor, and family man. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
