Police have issued a renewed appeal for witnesses and information regarding a non-recent sexual assault that took place at Sandymouth Holiday Home Park in Bude, Cornwall. The incident, involving a nine-year-old boy, occurred on 13th August 2016 in the park’s outdoor play area.

Details of the Incident

The assault happened inside a piece of play equipment designed as a pirate ship. The suspect, believed to have been aged 16 to 20 at the time, attacked the boy while other children were in the vicinity.

Detective Constable Clare Keenan stated: “This incident occurred out of sight but there were other children in the play area at the time who spoke with the victim and may have information which could assist our enquiries. We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us identify him.”

Call for Witnesses

Investigators are particularly keen to speak to individuals who were staying at Sandymouth Holiday Home Park around the time of the incident. They are appealing to anyone whose children used the play area or who may have holiday photographs from the location to come forward.

Clare added: “I’d ask anyone who was staying on the site around the time of the incident, anyone whose children may have used the play area and may have any holiday photographs that will help assist in identifying the suspect or provide any information which could assist our enquiries, to please get in touch.”

Reporting Information

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the police on 101 or via the Devon and Cornwall Police website, quoting reference 50001790269.

The investigation remains ongoing, with police determined to piece together details of the incident and identify the individual responsible. All information, no matter how small, could prove vital in solving this case.
