Police Dog Tracks Down Wanted Man and Suspected Drink Driver in Two Successful Pursuits
Devon & Cornwall Police’s PD Reno has had a busy and successful week, assisting in two key arrests. The highly skilled dog, alongside her handler, played a crucial role in apprehending a wanted man in St Austell and locating a suspected drink driver in Wadebridge.
Wanted Man Caught After Pursuit in St Austell
In the first incident, a man wanted by Merseyside Police for recall to prison was travelling through Cornwall when he was pursued by PD Reno and her handler. Local police units deployed stingers to halt the vehicle, and after a short chase, the man fled into a wooded area in St Austell.
PD Reno quickly picked up the trail, tracking the man through the woods and eventually finding him hiding in undergrowth near a car park. This arrest was the result of a joint effort between the Operations and St Austell response teams.
Suspected Drink Driver Arrested in Wadebridge
The second incident saw PD Reno and her handler called to the scene of a motorbike crash in the Wadebridge area. After the suspect drink driver had crashed their motorbike, Reno tracked the vehicle to a rear garden of a nearby property. Bodmin response units followed up with enquiries at the location, where the driver was found inside the property.
The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance.
PD Reno’s successful efforts have earned praise from Devon & Cornwall Police, who continue to rely on the skill and dedication of their K9 units.
