Detectives have launched an investigation following the deaths of a woman and a man in Illogan, Cornwall.

Emergency Response in Churchtown Road

Emergency services were called to a property on Churchtown Road at around 6:55am on Friday, 10th January. Upon arrival, a woman in her 60s was found deceased inside the property.

Shortly after, officers were alerted to concerns for the welfare of a man in his 50s on the A30. The man fell from a bridge and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation and Support for Families

An ongoing investigation aims to establish the full circumstances of both deaths. According to police, the man and woman were known to each other.

Detective Superintendent Jon Bancroft stated, “This is an incredibly sad incident, and we are doing all we can to support the next-of-kin of the people who have died.” He confirmed that specially trained officers are providing support to the families of both individuals.

Bancroft added, “Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what happened, and cordons have been in place to allow for a thorough investigation of the scenes.”

No Wider Threat to the Public

The incident is being treated as isolated, and officers have confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in connection to the deaths. Bancroft reassured the public, saying, “It is not believed anyone else was involved in the incident, and enquiries will continue to find out the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.”

There will be an increased police presence in the Illogan area. Local residents are encouraged to speak with neighbourhood policing officers if they have concerns.

Road Closure on the A30

As part of the investigation, the eastbound carriageway of the A30 was closed for several hours, reopening at around 1:30pm.

Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the police online or by calling 101, quoting log number 131 of 10/01/25.
