How Safe is Your Neighbourhood? Devon & Cornwall Police Want Your Opinion
Devon & Cornwall Police are giving residents the chance to share their thoughts on policing in their area through a new community survey. This ongoing survey aims to gather opinions on important local issues such as anti-social behaviour, police visibility, and safety concerns.
The survey provides a permanent way for people to communicate their local priorities, enabling the police to better understand the communities they serve.
What’s Working and What’s Not?
Inspector Steve Philp, neighbourhood policing lead, explained that the survey is a way to hear directly from the public about what they like and dislike about their neighbourhoods. “We want to better understand what’s great and what’s not so great about where people live so we can work with residents to tackle any worries and issues,” said Steve.
A Positive Step Forward
Steve also highlighted that a recent report from His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) recognised the good work being done by Devon & Cornwall Police. The 2023-25 PEEL (Police Effectiveness, Efficiency and Legitimacy) report commended the Force’s efforts to build trust within communities and encourage the sharing of information that helps prevent and detect crime.
However, the police are eager to continue improving. “We know we can do more to serve our communities,” Steve added, urging as many people as possible to complete the survey and make their voices heard.
