Help Shape the Future: Devon and Cornwall Police Seek Volunteer Cadet Leaders
Devon and Cornwall Police are calling for volunteers to support their Volunteer Police Cadet (VPC) groups across various locations in Devon and Cornwall, offering an opportunity to make a difference in local communities and in the lives of young people.
Locations Across Devon and Cornwall
Volunteers are needed in Penzance, Falmouth, Cambourne, St Austell, Bodmin, Launceston, Devonport, Plymstock/Plympton, Ivybridge, Torbay, Newton Abbot, Exeter, Tiverton, and Barnstaple. The role is flexible, though it requires attendance at regular cadet sessions.
The Police Cadet groups are designed to promote positive community engagement and provide young people, aged 13-18, with a chance to learn about legislation, policies, and the workings of Devon and Cornwall Police. Volunteers will support these efforts by helping to organise cadet activities and inspire the next generation of responsible citizens.
Qualifications and Experience
No specific qualifications are required to apply, but experience working with young people or using social media is considered advantageous. Volunteers should be friendly, approachable, and open to learning new skills that can be shared with the cadets.
Applicants should live within 25 miles of their chosen base location, and while a full driving licence is not essential, it is beneficial. Mileage expenses will be covered at 45p per mile.
Gain Skills and Give Back
Volunteers will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience that can be applied in other areas of life. By being part of the VPC team, volunteers will develop a strong sense of community involvement and may even have the chance to gain additional qualifications.
If you’re interested in becoming a Volunteer Police Cadet Leader, you can learn more and apply via the Devon and Cornwall Police website. For more information about the Volunteer Police Cadets, visit the VPC website.
This is your chance to give back to your community while shaping the future for young people.
