Devon & Cornwall Police Launch Fun Competition: Name Our Tractor!
Devon & Cornwall Police are bringing a touch of fun to their rural engagements by inviting the young locals to choose the official name of the newest addition to the rural fleet – the police tractor!
This competition encourages children across Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly to get creative and submit a name for the tractor, which plays a crucial role in connecting the police with the community at agricultural events.
Meet the Police Tractor
Thanks to a generous loan from Masons Kings, a local agricultural machinery dealership, the Rural Affairs team at Devon & Cornwall Police have added a tractor to their fleet. The tractor is not just any ordinary farm vehicle; it sports an eye-catching police livery, making it a standout at any event it attends.
A Success Story Continues
Following the roaring success of last year’s competition, which saw the tractor named ‘Optimus Crime’ by four-year-old Reuben Mudge, the team is excited to see what names the children come up with this year. The competition starts on Wednesday, 15 May and runs until midnight on Sunday, 9 June 2024.
Assistant Chief Inspector Glen Mayhew is tasked with selecting the winning entry, which will be announced on the Rural Affairs team’s Facebook page on Friday, 14 June.
A Call to Young Creatives
The competition is open to children aged 12 and under from Devon, Cornwall, or the Isles of Scilly. Entrants are reminded to obtain permission from their parent or guardian before participating. Police Constable Clarke Orchard commented on the community’s enthusiasm, noting the tractor’s role as a conversation starter and a beacon of awareness for rural issues.
Exciting Prize and Meet-up
The lucky winner of the competition will not only have the honour of naming the tractor but will also receive a small prize and a special invitation to meet the Rural Affairs team at the Woofstock Festival on Saturday, 15 June 2024.
How to Enter
Those interested can find all the details about the competition, including terms and conditions, on the Devon & Cornwall Police website at www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/TractorCompetition. Updates and advice on rural matters can also be followed on the team’s official Facebook page: Devon & Cornwall Police Rural Affairs.
Peter Endacott, General Manager at Masons Kings, expressed his pride in supporting the police’s efforts to engage with the community and raise awareness about rural crime, calling last year’s campaign a tremendous success.
As the competition unfolds, the community eagerly awaits the new and imaginative names that will symbolise the police tractor’s role in rural engagement and crime prevention.
