Bude Police have introduced a new initiative to foster community engagement and address local concerns. Announced via a Facebook post, the police department will host a regular ‘Neighbourhood Beat Surgery’ every last Friday of the month at Bude Library and Information Service.
PCSO Stu and PC Nina will be available between 10am and 11am during these sessions to engage in face-to-face discussions with residents. The initiative aims to provide a consistent opportunity for the community to interact with local law enforcement, allowing residents to put a face to the names of their local officers.
These sessions are designed to address various community concerns, discuss improvement strategies for the neighbourhood, and inform about upcoming events. Residents will also have the opportunity to discuss personal matters in confidence, as a private room will be available for sensitive conversations.
PC Nina, in the Facebook post, encourages the public to spread the word about these sessions. She also notes that an update and reminder will be posted on Facebook as the date of each session approaches.
In addition to this new initiative, the Bude Police continue to remind residents of the existing channels for reporting and seeking assistance. For the quickest way to report a crime, the public is advised to use the email service. For non-emergency incidents, the number to dial is 101, and for emergencies, 999 remains the number to call.
This move by the Bude Police is seen as a positive step towards building a stronger relationship with the community and addressing issues that matter to local residents. The first of these monthly sessions is eagerly anticipated by the community, with many looking forward to having a more personal interaction with their local police officers.
