Authorities Secure Closure Order Against Nuisance Property in Camborne

Published On: 9 February 2024Last Updated: 9 February 2024By

In an effort to curb the rising tide of anti-social behaviour in Camborne, Cornwall, the local neighbourhood policing team, in collaboration with Cornwall Council’s anti-social behaviour team, has successfully secured a full closure order for a problematic property located on Adelaide Street. This decisive action, granted by Truro Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 7 February, marks a significant step towards restoring peace within the community.

The closure order comes as a response to a series of complaints from residents regarding ongoing anti-social behaviour and disorder emanating from the property. Reports highlight a pattern of disruptive activities by the tenants and their visitors, which have persistently affected the quality of life in the neighbourhood. Efforts to engage with the tenants and address the issues amicably were made prior to the court application, but continued complaints necessitated the pursuit of a closure order.

For the next three months, the order will prohibit entry to the premises, effectively aiming to prevent any further disturbances to the community. This measure has been met with approval from both the police force and local residents, who have been significantly impacted by the actions at the Adelaide Street property.

Inspector Louisa Brown, representing the Camborne neighbourhood policing team, expressed gratitude towards the community for bringing the issues to attention and highlighted the collaborative effort with Cornwall Council that led to this outcome. She emphasised the importance of the closure order in improving the lives of local residents and encouraged continued communication between the police, council, and community members.

During the period of the closure order, there will be ongoing cooperation between the neighbourhood policing team, Cornwall Council, and other agencies to monitor the situation and ensure compliance. The community has been urged to report any breaches of the order, which could result in serious penalties, including imprisonment or fines, for violators.

Residents are also encouraged to stay informed about local policing efforts and community safety initiatives through the Devon & Cornwall Police website and social media channels. Inspector Brown’s message to the community underscores the importance of reporting concerns and contributing to a safer, more peaceful Camborne.
