Appeal for Witnesses Following Serious Assault in Bude
Devon and Cornwall Police are urgently calling for witnesses after a serious assault incident in Bude on the evening of Sunday 17 March. The altercation, resulting in significant injuries to a local man, unfolded at a well-known community spot, prompting authorities to seek public assistance in their ongoing investigation.
The Incident
According to official reports, the assault occurred between 8pm and 9pm near The Bandstand, a location frequented by residents and visitors alike. A man, aged in his 60s, suffered a severe head injury during the attack and was subsequently rushed to hospital for urgent medical care.
In the aftermath, a man in his 40s was taken into custody in connection with the incident. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Call for Evidence
Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who were in the vicinity of The Bandstand during the time of the assault. Tim Wright, an investigator with Liskeard CID, emphasised the potential presence of numerous people in the area who might possess crucial evidence that could significantly aid the police investigation.
“We understand there were a number of people near The Bandstand at the time who may not realise they hold information vital to our case. We urge anyone who saw anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward,” Tim stated.
