Get Stuck Into Conservation: Try a Volunteer Taster Day with Cornwall Wildlife Trust
Looking for a way to do more for wildlife in 2025 but not sure where to start? Cornwall Wildlife Trust is inviting nature lovers to a Volunteer Taster Day on Thursday 27th February at Breney Common nature reserve, offering a hands-on experience in conservation.
A Day in the Wild
The event runs from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with volunteers meeting at Gunwen Chapel before heading onto the reserve. It’s a chance to meet like-minded people, learn conservation skills, and explore one of Cornwall’s stunning nature reserves. No prior experience or tools are required—Cornwall Wildlife Trust staff will be on hand to guide the activities, which include cutting and burning vegetation.
As an added bonus, the team will be cooking jacket potatoes on an open fire, with cheese provided. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own additional toppings.
What You Need to Know
This taster session is open to over-18s, and participants should come prepared for the elements. The terrain is muddy and uneven, so waterproofs, warm layers, and wellies are essential. There will be no access to facilities, so volunteers should bring plenty of drinking water and food.
Spaces are expected to fill up fast—visit the Cornwall Wildlife Trust website to find out more.
