Lorry Fire Causes Early Morning Drama on A30
Early this morning at 04:48, emergency services were called to a lorry fire on the A30 Eastbound at Mitchell. The fire was discovered to be caused by excess fuel in the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) leaking onto a hot exhaust pipe, resulting in ignition.
Firefighting Efforts
Upon arrival, crews from St Dennis Community Fire Station and Perranporth Community Fire Station quickly took action. Using a High-Pressure Hose Reel Jet (HRJ) and a Powder Fire Extinguisher, they managed to extinguish the fire and cool the engine bay. Their swift response prevented the fire from spreading to the cab of the lorry.
Preventing Further Damage
The use of both the HRJ and Powder Fire Extinguisher was crucial in managing the situation effectively. By cooling the engine bay, the firefighters were able to prevent a potentially more severe incident. This prompt action highlights the importance of well-coordinated efforts in emergency situations.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries from the incident. The road has since been cleared, ensuring that traffic can flow smoothly once again.
