Need More Space for Your Recycling? Cornwall Council Has You Covered!
Cornwall Council is rolling out a new waste collection service that might just make you rethink your rubbish habits!
Starting April 8, South East Cornwall residents will see a shift in how their trash is handled, all geared towards boosting recycling efforts and trimming down waste.
New Rules, New Bins
Under the new system, household waste destined for landfill will need to fit into a 180-litre bin or a reusable sack, which will be collected every two weeks. But it’s not all about restrictions! The council is also introducing weekly food waste collections alongside the fortnightly recycling pick-ups, making it easier for residents to keep their homes and conscience clean.
Why You Might Need Extra Recycling Containers
With the introduction of the smaller bins for general rubbish, you’ll likely need additional space for your recyclables. Recognising this shift, Cornwall Council is stepping up by offering extra recycling bags and boxes free of charge. Whether it’s more plastic, glass, or paper, you won’t have to worry about running out of room between collections.
How to Get Extra Containers
Getting your hands on extra recycling containers couldn’t be simpler. Residents of South East Cornwall can request additional bags or boxes by visiting Cornwall Council’s recycling page. This proactive move by the council aims to support everyone in making a greener choice without the headache of overflowing bins come collection day.
A More Sustainable Cornwall
This change is part of Cornwall Council’s broader effort to encourage waste reduction and increase recycling rates in the county. By adjusting the capacity for landfill waste and enhancing the recycling infrastructure, the council hopes to foster a more sustainable community ethos that will see Cornwall thrive environmentally.
Make sure you’re prepared for the new waste collection service coming this April. Check your storage needs, visit the Cornwall Council website, and let’s make Cornwall a cleaner, greener place together!
