Cornwall Council Wants Your Ideas – Here’s How to Get Involved
Public invited to suggest topics for council scrutiny and decision-making
Cornwall Council is calling on people who live or work in Cornwall to have their say by suggesting topics for its official work programmes.
The council says it wants to make its decision-making “more transparent and inclusive” and is inviting individuals to take part through its public participation scheme.
Who Can Take Part?
The scheme is open to any individual who either lives or works in Cornwall. However, questions will not be accepted from organisations.
There are specific rules on which meetings you can submit questions for. These include:
-
Full Council
-
Cabinet
-
Overview and Scrutiny Committees
-
Health and Wellbeing Board (but only on items already on the agenda)
In addition, the following committees have their own schemes:
-
Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee
-
Cornwall Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority
-
Planning Committees
How to Submit Your Question
To take part, questions must be submitted in writing and sent to the Monitoring Officer through Democratic Services.
Your submission must be received by 12 noon, two clear working days before the meeting you want to speak at. If the meeting falls on a Tuesday, the deadline would be the Thursday before. Bank holidays don’t count as working days.
Your submission must include:
-
Your title and full name
-
Postal town
-
Contact details
-
The name of the meeting you’re asking about
The question must also meet the requirements of the public participation scheme.
