Bereavement Support Survey Launched for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Residents
Public Health is currently investigating the need for a commissioned bereavement service for adults in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Recognising that bereavement affects everyone at some point in their lives, the department is exploring ways to provide better formal support for those who need it.
While many individuals can rely on friends and family to navigate the emotional challenges following a loss, there are significant obstacles that prevent some from accessing formal bereavement support. Public Health aims to address these disparities and ensure that all bereaved adults in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly receive the support they need.
Addressing Inequalities in Bereavement Support
Public Health’s primary goal is to identify and address inequalities in bereavement support. Certain population groups face unique challenges in accessing these services, and the department is committed to understanding and overcoming these barriers.
To gather comprehensive feedback, Public Health has launched a survey that invites residents to share their experiences and thoughts on bereavement support. The insights gained from this survey will be instrumental in shaping the potential development of a new bereavement service tailored to the needs of the community.

Residents of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are encouraged to participate in the survey, which is available online at the Let’s Talk Cornwall platform. The survey is open from Friday, 28 June to Friday, 26 July 2024. Participants will need to create an account on the platform if they haven’t used it before.
