The Cornwall College Group (TCCG) has announced the appointment of Rob Bosworth as its new Principal and Chief Executive.

Rob, who previously served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Exeter College, takes over following the retirement of the current Principal, John Evans.

Rob Bosworth’s Background and Vision

Rob Bosworth brings over two decades of experience in education to his new role. At Exeter College, he was instrumental in enhancing the educational framework and student services. His leadership is well-regarded for its innovative approach, earning him an Honorary membership with the City & Guilds Group for his dedication to vocational excellence and forming strategic partnerships.

“It has been overwhelming to experience the passion and commitment of the staff, and a real joy to meet the incredible students,” Rob said. “I look forward to working with the TCCG Board, the leadership team, and college staff to ensure Cornwall and Devon have a world-class further education offering for its community.”

Building on John Evans’ Legacy

John Evans, the outgoing Principal, has been credited with transforming TCCG into one of the best colleges in the South West and the top-performing college in Cornwall. Under his leadership, TCCG made significant progress in providing high-quality education and learner experiences.

Patrick Newberry, TCCG Chair of Governors, expressed gratitude for John’s contributions and confidence in Rob’s ability to continue this legacy. “His outstanding track record in further education and his integral role in the success of his current college assure us that he will build on the excellent work John Evans has done,” Patrick said.

Strategic Future Plans

Rob Bosworth is set to further develop and embed TCCG’s future strategy, ensuring the college remains a high-quality, sustainable institution. He emphasised the importance of partnerships and people in achieving outstanding education and training.

“We will look to grow current partnerships and establish new ones, so the Cornwall and Devon economies can thrive with the necessary skills to deliver their ambitions,” Rob stated. “With the great team we have here at TCCG, we can continue to be a college the region can be proud of.”

Conclusion

Rob Bosworth will officially start his role at TCCG on 1st July, with John Evans departing on 12th July. The Cornwall College Group includes multiple campuses and specialised centres across the region, making it a pivotal institution for further education in Cornwall.

Rob’s leadership aims to maintain and enhance the college’s status, focusing on education excellence and strong community ties to support the economic and social development of Cornwall and Devon.
