Firefighter Role at Cornwall Airport Newquay

Cornwall Airport Newquay is on the lookout for an experienced and dedicated firefighter to join its on-site fire department. The airport’s Rescue and Firefighting Service is seeking a hands-on, enthusiastic individual with a current CAA qualification or certificate of competence from an approved in-house maintenance scheme.

The role involves responding to emergency requests, maintaining personal fitness, and adhering to health and safety policies. Applicants should also be familiar with Risk Assessments related to the role and be prepared to work under pressure. Ideal candidates will have experience working in a Fire and Rescue Service and be competent Breathing Apparatus wearers.

Key Requirements:

• CAA qualification or Certificate of Competence for aviation firefighting.
• Full UK driving licence; LGV/Category C licence is desirable.
• First Aid at Work Certificate is a plus.
• Ability to pass the company’s medical and fitness standards.
• Flexible work patterns.

The successful candidate will receive a salary of £32,767 per year, with a 40-hour working week. The role offers a pension scheme, employee discounts, and flexible working hours, including a family-friendly shift pattern of one day on and two days off.

Café & Retail Assistant Position

Cornwall Airport Newquay is also recruiting for a Café & Retail Assistant to join their brand-new Café & Retail space. This role is perfect for someone who excels in customer service, is a great team player, and is comfortable working in a busy environment.

What They’re Looking For:

• Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for customer service.
• Confident working with tills, handling money, and managing stock.
• Compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
• Ability to engage with diverse groups, from business travellers to holidaymakers.

Responsibilities include selling merchandise and F&B products, maintaining high hygiene standards, and assisting in building new café food menus. This position offers a chance to work with some of Cornwall’s best-known brands, such as Furniss biscuits and Cornish gin.

The role is a permanent contract with a salary of £12.00 per hour, working 24-32 hours per week, including weekends.
