Cornwall Airport Newquay has once again seen a surge in passenger numbers, with August proving to be another busy month for the airport. A total of 55,946 travellers passed through its terminal, marking another increase in the airport’s bustling summer season.

Baggage Handling Success

With more passengers comes more luggage, and Cornwall Airport Newquay’s team handled nearly 25,000 bags throughout August. Rather than outsourcing services, the airport prides itself on its 100% in-house team, ensuring a personal touch to all operations.

Alicante – A Hot Destination

One of the stand-out routes this month was Alicante, which saw an impressive 205% increase in passengers compared to the same time last year. A total of 6,643 people flew to the Spanish city, highlighting its growing popularity among Cornwall-based travellers.

Destination of the Month: London

London has been crowned Cornwall Airport Newquay’s ‘destination of the month,’ with flights to London Gatwick available every day of the week through Eastern Airways. This year-round route has been used by several familiar faces recently, including TV personalities like Christopher Biggins and Helen Lederer, musicians Tinchy Stryder and Fazer from N-Dubz, and singers Cheryl Baker and Lisa Maffia.
