Take Off on the Tarmac! Cornwall Air Ambulance’s “Runway Runaround” is Back

Cornwall Air Ambulance proudly announces the exhilarating return of its “Runway Runaround” event, a unique running challenge scheduled to take place at the historic Perranporth Airfield on Saturday, 19th October 2024.

This event marks the first in-person return of the run since 2019 and promises a day of fun, costumes, and community spirit, all in support of lifesaving services.

Race Details

Kids Take the Lead

The day kicks off with a 2.5K fun run designed exclusively for children up to 16 years old. Young participants are encouraged to dress up in fancy costumes, making their runway circuit even more memorable. Accompanying parents can join their kids in this spirited dash around the airstrip at no extra cost, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere of the day.

Adults Hit the Runway

Following a short break, it will be time for the adults and over-16s to lace up. The main event, a 10K loop around the airfield, invites both serious runners and fun-run enthusiasts. Fancy dress, while optional, is encouraged to add a flair of festivity to the strides.

Perranporth Airfield, with its rich history as a former WWII RAF fighter station, serves as a poignant backdrop for the event. Rob Foster, the Fundraising Officer for Events & Challenges at Cornwall Air Ambulance, expressed his excitement about the venue, noting its historical significance and its connection to the charity’s lifesaving mission.
