Sing it Home: Help Cornwall Air Ambulance Secure a Second Helicopter This Christmas
Cornwall Air Ambulance is calling on the community to come together and ‘sing home’ a second lifesaving helicopter this Christmas. The charity has released a festive pop-up style animation, complete with its very own sea shanty, Sing it Home, featuring the voices of over 300 local musicians.
A Festive Journey Across Cornwall
The animation follows a young boy who writes to Father Christmas, asking for a second helicopter to help Cornwall Air Ambulance save more lives, including those of people like his mother. As the letter embarks on its Christmas Eve journey, it travels through Cornish towns and villages, accompanied by the sea shanty sung by communities along the way. Passing iconic landmarks, the letter eventually reaches the North Pole, where Santa’s elves get to work building the much-needed aircraft. But will they finish it in time for Christmas?
The animation’s soundtrack features hundreds of local artists, including Jeremy Griffiths, a critical care paramedic at Cornwall Air Ambulance. Reflecting on the experience, Jeremy said: “Being involved in the recording of Sing it Home has been a great experience, and we hope people enjoy watching the song come to life through our new Christmas animation. What a great way to bring the community together and join the mission to secure your second AW169 helicopter.”
Join the Heli2 Appeal
The song and animation form part of Cornwall Air Ambulance’s Heli2 Appeal, which aims to raise £2.85 million to bring a second AW169 helicopter to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The additional advanced aircraft will enhance the charity’s resilience, capability, and versatility, allowing its crew to attend more missions during their 19-hour daily service and ultimately save more lives.
Tim Bunting, chief executive at Cornwall Air Ambulance, said: “We want to be able to provide the very best service to every patient who needs us, and with your help, we can do that. Every donation this Christmas will be doubled by some generous donors, taking us a step closer to landing your second helicopter. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far this year, you are making a lifesaving difference. Now is the time to join the Heli2 mission and support the appeal.”
Double Your Donations This Christmas
Generous donors and ‘little elves’ are doubling all donations to the appeal this Christmas. For every £1 contributed, supporters will match it, making each donation worth £2. Every contribution will go towards bringing the second helicopter home to Cornwall and saving more lives for many Christmases to come.
