Marathon Hero: Cornwall Paramedic Races in Full Gear for Charity
In a remarkable display of endurance and dedication, Paul, a Critical Care Paramedic from Cornwall Air Ambulance, conquered the London Marathon wearing his full paramedic uniform, achieving an impressive time of 2:53:14.
This extraordinary feat was part of a broader effort to support the lifesaving services provided by the Cornwall Air Ambulance through their HELi2 Appeal.
Unusual Gear, Unwavering Spirit
Paul tackled the grueling 26.1-mile course not in typical athletic attire, but clad in the heavy and cumbersome gear of his everyday heroics. His goal was not just to finish, but to clock in under three hours, a target he surpassed with minutes to spare. This achievement highlights not only his physical fitness but also his commitment to the cause he championed.
Team Effort for a Noble Cause
Paul was not alone in his endeavour. Six other spirited runners also took on the london marathon in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance, each contributing to the fundraising efforts for the HELi2 Appeal, which aims to secure a second AW169 helicopter. This critical addition will enhance the capacity of Cornwall Air Ambulance to save lives across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Supporting the Lifesavers
The support for these runners extends beyond mere applause. It translates into vital funding that enables Cornwall Air Ambulance to continue its mission. The community and beyond are encouraged to contribute to Paul’s fundraising efforts, which remain open for donations. By supporting, donors are directly impacting the ability of the air ambulance crew to reach and treat those in critical need.
To contribute to this noble cause, supporters can visit Paul’s fundraising page on the JustGiving website.
Paul’s commitment and the community’s backing exemplify how collective efforts can lead to substantial impacts, helping to save lives one step at a time.
