Cycling, Singing and Saving Lives: Tom’s Journey from the Lakes to the Isles of Scilly

One man, one bike, one mission to fund a life-saving helicopter flight

Tom Cary set off yesterday, Saturday 21st June, on his latest “Country Across The Country” challenge to raise funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The journey will take Tom from the Lake District all the way down to the Isles of Scilly. Along the way, he’ll be stopping at various venues to perform country music gigs, blending his passion for music with a determined effort to support the life-saving charity.

Aiming to Fund a Mission

This year, Tom is hoping to raise £5,000 – the cost of a potentially life-saving helicopter mission. All money raised will go directly to Cornwall Air Ambulance, helping to ensure the crew can continue flying to those in urgent need across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Last year, Tom cycled from John o’Groats to Land’s End and raised money towards the charity’s Heli2 Appeal, which helped secure a second AW169 helicopter. For 2025, the focus of his musical tour is mainly in the South West, especially Cornwall, in support of the local service.

“Cornwall Air Ambulance is not just a helicopter; it is a lifeline for our community,” Tom said. “They are always ready at a moment’s notice, equipped with the best tools and trained professionals who save and improve lives every single day.”
