Cornwall Air Ambulance’s Helifest 2024: A Day of Celebration and Support

Published On: 26 February 2024Last Updated: 26 February 2024By

Cornwall Air Ambulance is excited to announce that Helifest, the much-anticipated one-day blue light festival, will be held at a new venue this year, bringing together the community and emergency services for a day of fun and fundraising. Set for Saturday, 6th July 2024, the event will take place in the picturesque grounds of Scorrier House near Redruth, marking a new chapter for this annual celebration.

Helifest is designed to honour and showcase the vital work of Cornwall’s emergency services, including the Cornwall Air Ambulance crew, who will be present along with their helicopter. The festival will feature an array of participants, such as Cornwall Blood Bikes, the British Army, Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service, HM Coastguard, NHS, Devon & Cornwall Police, RNLI, and West Cornwall Search & Rescue, highlighting the collaborative spirit of those who work at the front lines of emergency response.

The event promises a variety of entertainment options suitable for all ages, including live music performances from local bands, a selection of food traders led by the renowned Paul Ainsworth’s food truck, children’s theme park rides, inflatables, a circus skills workshop, and the thrilling opportunity for helicopter rides with Adventure 001.

Rob Foster, Fundraising Officer for Events and Challenges at Cornwall Air Ambulance, expressed enthusiasm about the new location and the expanded offerings of this year’s Helifest. “We’re ready for a day of great entertainment in the stunning setting of Scorrier House. With a fabulous line-up of musicians, food and drink stands, and fun activities for the family, we aim to raise both awareness and vital funds needed to keep our helicopter flying,” he said.

Funds raised from Helifest will directly support Cornwall Air Ambulance’s lifesaving services. The charity, which operates without direct government funding, relies on community and business support to maintain its operations. Annually, the Cornwall Air Ambulance crew attends over 1,000 missions, providing rapid response and medical care across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The Helifest Festival is not only a celebration but also a crucial fundraising event to ensure the continuity of these emergency services.

Tickets for Helifest are available at £8 for adults, £5 for children, and £20 for a family ticket, offering an accessible day out with a cause. The event is supported and sponsored by Absolute Canvas and The Duchy Group, showcasing the community’s strong support for the lifesaving work of the Cornwall Air Ambulance and other emergency services.
